This does not always apply but for the most part you can follow this general rule of thumb for vinyl used for crafting and probably be ok.
Heat transfer paper will last for about 25 30.

Infusible ink vs iron on vinyl.
You need either an iron or a heat press to apply htv and need transfer tape to adhere adhesive vinyl.
Heat transfer paper will adhere to the same everyday garments as heat transfer vinyl including cotton polyester and blends.
Heat transfer vinyl or htv requires heat and pressure to adhere to a surface.
What do i need.
For example oracal 651 vinyl will say oracal 651 on the paper backing.
Adhesive vinyl can come in all kinds of colors and finishes but it will always have a paper backing and be sticky to the touch when that backing is peeled off.
There are 2 main types of vinyl.
Heat transfer vinyl htv on the other hand does not have a paper backing.
Adhesive vinyl is run through your die cutter with the vinyl facing up and the paper carrier sheet down.
